Detachable Fiber Array Unit

The detachable FAU design replaces conventional fixed fiber pigtails, allowing the optical fiber and optical engine to be processed and validated separately. In mass production, fiber assembly can be introduced only after the wafer process has been confirmed as qualified, helping improve overall yield. If a module malfunction occurs, the issue can be identified as originating from either the FAU or the optical engine, allowing only the faulty unit to be replaced rather than discarding the entire module. This enables more precise, faster, and more cost-effective maintenance.
